The Singing Angel Award

In 1989 a baby girl was born in Memphis, TN. Her name was Angel Shay Dixon. At three months old, Angel was diagnosed Leukemia, soon after that her cancer treatments began and she went into remission. When Angel was three and half years old, the cancer came back and a bone marrow transplant was performed. Two months later the cancer came back again. On February 26, 1994, the Lord won the battle for Angel and took her home to be with him in heaven. So many hearts and lives were touched by this little girl, and so many lessons were learned about the Lord, his love, patience and understanding, all from this four year old child.. In loving memory of Angel Shay Dixon, an award entitled the Singing Angel award was established. Past winners have been Lily Fern Weatherford, Jeff and Sheri Easter, Gloria Gaither and Howard and Vestal Goodman.
This year the inscription on the placque reads

“In recognition and appreciation the 1998 Singing Angel Award is presented to The Stanley’s. There comes a time in each of our lives when the Lord sends an Angel down to earth to touch our hearts with a kind word, deed or song. This angel could be a friend or even a stranger. The Stanley’s are such angels. Over the years so many hearts and lives have been touched by their family harmony, and singing and writing southern gospel music songs. Their genuine love and concern not only for their family and friends, but for their audience is a shining example of what Southern Gospel Music is all about. They are most assuredly "Singing Angels."

The Stanleys wish to thank Marilyn Ward for the great honor she bestowed on them by the presentation of this award. We are aware of the thought that went into the selection process and that makes it even more special to us.

Thank you Marilyn, this plaque will be kept in a special place, but mostly in our hearts.
